Primary Function: Exercise and Sports Sciences Faculty

Major Duties:  

The Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences has 150+ majors and offers the following programs of study:  Exercise Science (Bachelor of Science) with emphasis in Exercise and Health Promotion, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Nursing, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Athletic Training, and Sport and Exercise Psychology; Physical Education (Bachelor of Science); and Sport Management (Bachelor of Science). This Department additionally offers a minor in Exercise Science and prepares students for state licensure in Athletic Training. The duties of this position include:

  • Teaching lower- and upper-level courses in Exercise Science and/or related fields
  • Maintain a twelve-hour course load per semester
  • Advising and mentoring students
  • Maintain a minimum of ten office hours per week
  • Engaging in scholarly activity and the promotion of undergraduate research
  • Serving on University committees
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • An earned doctorate in Exercise Science or closely related field is preferred.  Persons with an MS and demonstrated commitment to pursue a doctorate in exercise science or closely related field (biomechanics, exercise physiology, motor behavior, etc..) may be considered.  Applicants must have a commitment to undergraduate education and interdisciplinary collaboration, a commitment to the University’s Christian mission, and be an active member of a congregation of the Churches of Christ.

Physical Requirements: 

While Performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

  • Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings
  • Required to regularly sit and stand
  • Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements
  • Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly
