Functional Title: Faculty Position - Electronic Resources Librarian
Classification: Salary; Exempt
Division: Academics
Department: Library
Reports To: Library Director
Primary Functions: Manages and coordinates library technology resources

Major Duties:

  • Current on issues, trends, and technologies in electronic resource management, data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Manages the Electronic Resources Management System (EBSCO), including knowledge base management, overlap analysis, link resolver configuration, and URLs.
  • Ensures remote access to databases by providing EZ Proxy configurations to network manager and troubleshooting setup problems with publishers when necessary.
  • Coordinates all activities related to the library’s automated system & access to online resources
  • Collaborative decision making on library automation system functions
  • Collaborates with staff to manage and maintain library website content
  • Works closely with library team, Information Technology and vendors to resolve technical issues
  • Provides professional online reference services as needed
  • Liaisons with assigned academic departments, including collection development and instructional duties.
  • Reads professional literature and attends professional meetings and workshops

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills working with faculty, students, vendors, and colleagues
  • Ability to help students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality is essential.
  • Skill in use of online technology to deliver library services
  • CSS/HTML proficient
  • Ability to deal with high volume of work in a short period of time
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external parties to resolve access issues related to electronic resources and to adapt to changing environments and priorities
  • Experience with integrated library systems (SirsiDynix Symphony preferred); discovery services (EBSCO EDS preferred); link resolver; LibGuides Content Management System; and LibAnswers
  • Experience with the technical procedures of acquiring and maintaining library resources
  • Knowledge of the electronic product market, publishing issues, pricing models, and licensing
  • Initiative and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Very detailed oriented with analytical and quantitative skills preferred
  • Must uphold and support the mission and values of Lubbock Christian University
  • Be a committed and active member of their church (Church of Christ preferred)
  • Available to work evenings and weekends

Education and Experience:

  • American Library Association accredited Master’s Degree;
  • 3 years of electronic resources experience in an academic library

Physical Demands: While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

  • Walk a long distance around campus and in buildings.
  • Required to regularly sit and stand.
  • Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects.
  • Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 50+lbs.
  • Push and pull book carts up to 1,000 pounds
  • Possible exposure to dust, fumes, mechanical and electrical hazards
  • Able to climb multiple flights of stairs and stand on step-stools to reach materials
