Department: Student Affairs – The mission of Student Affairs is to provide services and intentional learning opportunities which foster community through personal and spiritual growth.
Primary Function: Provide security for individuals, campus buildings and/or property within the university campus by enforcing and/or reporting violations of university policies or guidelines and reporting violations of law to local authorities per Public Safety Policies & Procedures. Works under minimal supervision with reasonable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will wear a duty belt with approximately 7 pounds of equipment, regularly walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to drive, stand, walk and stoop, and occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch or crawl. During emergencies the physical demands may increase greatly.
Accountability: The Public Safety Officer is directly supervised by the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police.
