Functional Title: Graphic Designer
Classification: Salary - exempt
Division: University Relations
Department: MarCom (Marketing Communications)
Reports To: Director of Marketing 
Primary Function:  Design and produce the alumni magazine and a variety of print and digital media graphics for internal and external of marketing the university. 
Essential Functions: Through the use of visual graphics, university designers assist the university in reaching its marketing goals and maintaining its visual identity. 

Other Duties:

  • Assist with the development of visual materials and marketing campaigns used to advertise and promote Lubbock Christian University
  • Support campus university events and the internal business of the university including the design and development of a large variety of print and digital media such as brochures, posters, environmental graphics, website, and social media graphics
  • Assist in maintaining and implementing the university’s brand and visual identity guide
  • Design and work collaboratively to produce the biannual alumni magazine
  • Ability to complete assigned projects from concept to completion
  • Work with printers and outside vendors to ensure that materials are delivered on time and error-free
  • Excel at working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with a design team to develop creative concepts
  • Pitch creative concepts to on-campus clients

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior graphic design software skills (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Attention to detail and ability to execute complex projects and long print documents
  • Demonstrated talent for high-caliber creative concepting and writing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to listen and collaborate with others
  • Be an engaged and committed team member who fulfills assigned repsonsibilities and demonstrates initiative
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new techniques and technologies
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in graphic design, advertising or a related field  
  • Three years’ experience in print design and layout - preferred
  • Demonstrated writing ability and/or copywriting experience preferred
  • Photography skills – not required but helpful

Physical Requirements: 

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do some sitting, bending, and some lifting (up to 50 pounds).  The employee must be able to be ambulatory across entire campus, and have the ability to handle stress of multiple tasks and deadlines.
