Lubbock Christian University associate athletic director for communications, Chris Due, has been selected as a press officer for USA Baseball.
Due, who completed his tenth season handling the communications and sports information duties within the LCU athletic department, has been assigned to serve as the press officer for USA Baseball's 12U National Team.
USA Baseball's 12U National Team, the three-time World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-12 Baseball World Cup champions, will compete in the COPABE (Confederación Panamericana de Béisbol / Pan American Baseball Confederation) Pan Am "A" Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico in August. Due will travel to California to handle the program's media responsibilities during team trials before heading to Mexico.
"I am grateful for this opportunity to be a part of a top-notch organization in USA Baseball," said Due. "From a professionalism aspect to a patriotic realm, I am excited to not only perform my duties through the experiences I've had over my career, and from LCU, but to also learn things from this upcoming experience to better perform my roles at LCU."
Working international events is nothing foreign to Due. The Fort Worth, Texas native and Oklahoma Christian alumnus served as a social media coordinator for the IIHF Ice Hockey Junior World Championships in Toronto in 2015 and 2017 for Hockey Canada. He also served as a pressbox coordinator in a 2014 World Cup tune-up friendly between England and Honduras hosted by The Football Association (FA) at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium. Due joined the LCU athletic department in 2007 after working in professional sports since 1995, mostly working professional ice hockey.
