Lady Chaps Qualify For Women's Basketball Championships, Hosting South Central Regional

The No.1 Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals are making their NCAA Division II Women Basketball Championship debut in the top seed after claiming a Heartland Conference Tournament title.

The NCAA announced during their selection show the Lady Chaps are hosting the South Central Region Championship March 10-13 in the Rip Griffin Center. The Chaparrals were also chosen as eighth-seed to participate in the NCAA men’s basketball national tournament for the first time in program history and will travel to the South Central Regional in Wichita Falls.

The top-ranked Lady Chaps are 29-0 and one of two teams in NCAA Division II with a perfect record. They were selected as the top seed of the eight-team regional field. LCU's first game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 10 against eighth-seeded Texas Woman's University. Also included in the field is two-seed Colorado State - Pueblo, three-seed West Texas A&M, four-seed Angelo State, five-seed Colorado School of Mines, six-seed Colorado - Colorado Springs, and seven-seed Black Hills State.

The winning team of the tournament advances to the Elite Eight, scheduled for March 22-25 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Fans may also purchase tickets at the door of the Rip Griffin Center on the day of the competition. All tickets available to the general public are reserved seating and may be purchased for $10 per session. Children age 2 and under are admitted free of charge.
