LCU A Cappella Group Nominated for Best Religious Album

Lubbock Christian University’s A Cappella group Best Friends’ 2014 album, “Every Good Thing,” was nominated for Best Religious Album by the Contemporary A Cappella Society on Monday, Feb. 23.

This is the third year in a row that Best Friends has been recognized by the Contemporary A Cappella Society. In 2013, their album “All For You” was nominated for Religious Album of the Year and their song, “Move,” was nominated for Religious Song of the Year in 2012.

Andrew Babcock, Producer of Best Friends and LCU Director of Bands, said that for the group to have its name on the same list as nationally known professionals is an honor for both Best Friends and LCU. He also took time to thank Windy Babcock, Director of Best Friends, and Nathan Anderson, Best Friends Technical Director, for their hard work.

“Their dedication to the students in and beyond the classroom is a shining example of what makes LCU special,” Babcock said.

When asked about the reaction of the students and herself upon being nominated, Windy Babcock said, “We are truly honored to be nominated for a CARA award for the third year in a row. It's a blessing that we can celebrate our A Cappella musical heritage with other schools and professional singing groups. The biggest blessing about being nominated is that the name of the Lord is being praised. We are humbled and honored to sing this music and serve the Lord.”
