November 18 Declared Joyce Williams Day at LCU

President Tim Perrin declared Nov. 18, 2016 Joyce Williams Day at Lubbock Christian University, in honor of Evelyn Joyce Jones Williams, an Associate and long-time friend to the university. A number of her family members attended the announcement and celebration in chapel.

The day was named as a recognition of Joyce “for her life of distinguished Christian Service, her enduring support of Christian high education, and her beautiful embodiment of a life lived in faithful submission to her Lord and Savior,” as stated in the attached resolution.

Joyce passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the age of 87.

Joyce studied special education and home economics in her time as a non-traditional student at LCU. Joyce also served as a dedicated member of the LCU Associates. She was involved with her church and served the West Texas community in numerous ways.

Throughout her life, Joyce was passionate about education, and channeled her love of higher education into helping enrich LCU’s mission, including giving a life insurance policy to the university for the education and ministry of future students.
