Campers gather in group prayer at Summer Excitement

Summer Excitement Camp Emphasizes Relationships

The 34th annual Summer Excitement, a leadership training youth camp, was hosted on Lubbock Christian University campus from June 17-22.

Summer Excitement emphasizes relationships, directing discipleship toward middle-school and high-school students in a way that encourages them to connect with Christ and each other while experiencing fun games, interactive classes, and powerful worship experiences.

Summer Excitement has been an active ministry since 1985 and held in Lubbock under the stewardship of Quaker Avenue Church of Christ since 2003. Recent years have had camper attendance of over 120 with over 30 leaders and staff. This summer, the camp featured the theme “EPIC.”

Summer Excitement is structured around small groups, called families, that are grouped based primarily on age. These groups provide the means for students to connect on a deeper level with at least ten other people of faith.

A number of regular leaders for the camp are LCU alumni and/or current students. Additionally, several Summer Excitement leaders and alumni serve on staff at LCU.

LCU annually hosts camps like Encounter, Champion, and more during the summer months. To find out more about Encounter and other camp experiences that LCU hosts, click here or follow LCU Summer Camps on Facebook.
