The Division II Conference Commissioners Association announced the 2018 D2CCA All-America team and making the Second Team from Lubbock Christian University was Tess Bruffey. This marks the first season in which Bruffey has received All-America status by both the D2CCA and WBCA (WBCA made their announcement Sunday).
Bruffey, who became the program's first two-time All-America selection by WBCA on Sunday, becomes the program's first two-time D2CCA selection; she claimed Honorable Mention accolades in 2015-16).
To kick-off the March postseason awards, Bruffey became just the third player in Heartland Conference history to win back-to-back Player of the Year awards. The senior also became the first player in conference history to win both the Player of the Year and Defender of the Year award in the same season.
Bruffey closed her career with a 55-2 (96.5%) playing record inside Rip Griffin Center and she was on the winning side for the final 50 straight home games she played in.
Nicole Hampton is the only other Lady Chap to receive All-America honors by the D2CCA (2016). The Lady Chaps closed their season at the Elite Eight Tournament, falling to Central Missouri in the quarterfinals. The game in Sioux Falls, S.D. closed the Lady Chaps season with a 31-2 mark.
