Thursday’s Lubbock Christian University basketball doubleheader will be televised nationally by American Sports Network and will mark the first ever nationally televised events inside the Rip Griffin Center.
The games against Texas A&M International are part of 27 contests NCAA Division II is featuring as part of their Basketball Showcase national broadcast series.
Thursday’s games against TAMIU are scheduled at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. for the women’s and men’s teams respectively. The games will be streamed to radio at KJTV AM950/100.7FM and televised by ASN and locally on KJTV Fox 34 News NOW.
LCU is providing free admission to the Thursday games, which will also mark the start of Homecoming events for 2017, and encourages Chap Nation fans to come in full force. The first 1,000 fans will receive a complimentary t-shirt. There will also be free food and a sign contest with cash prizes for the best and most creative signs.
This is the second consecutive season LCU has had a doubleheader of regular season basketball games filmed on national television. Last season, LCU’s men’s and women’s basketball games at Arkansas Fort Smith were featured by ASN.
In total, LCU made national television on four occasions last season, with women’s basketball having two of their games during the National Championship Tournament carried nationally.
