For a weekend in November, Encounter LE acts as a winter spiritual retreat for high school and middle school students to refocus on Christ and reorient their spiritual lives.
For its third year, Encounter LE welcomed 800 campers, 160 sponsors and teachers, and over 75 faculty and staff volunteers.
“With busy schedules and the world thirsting for our attention, it is hard to keep Christ the focus,” said promotional material for the event. “Encounter LE is designed to refresh your soul with Jesus, friends, and fun.”
This year featured speakers Patrick Mead and Jonathan Storment, as well as entertainment by comedian Jonnie W. and Christian rock band Family Force 5.
Encounter LE is a retreat – with registration cost including meals, classes, and entertainment – modeled after LCU’s annual summer camp, Encounter. Encounter is a week-long event hosted in June with classes, devotionals, entertainment, and worship opportunities for high school students.
LE was created as a shorter chance for youth group fellowship and spiritual focus when youth ministers suggested an additional Encounter event might be beneficial for their youth groups.
A video of the weekend was released to campers Sunday afternoon following the retreat and can be viewed below. To learn more about camp opportunities at LCU, visit LCUcamps.com.
