Mark Lanier

Mark LanierMark Lanier is one of the top civil trial lawyers in America and founder of the Lanier Law Firm. He lives in Houston, Texas, and maintains offices in New York, Houston, and Los Angeles. Living daily with the demands of his career and the desire for a godly life, Lanier recognizes the importance and challenge of finding daily time to spend in God’s Word. Mark has devoted his life to studying and living the Bible. He teaches Biblical classes in person at Champion Forest Baptist Church, via the internet and through print. He has authored several books including Christianity on Trial, and his most recently published, Torah for Living: Daily Prayers, Wisdom, and Guidance, is a devotional study of the first five books of the Bible―the Torah, the Law.

After graduating from Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas, Lanier attended Texas Tech University for two years. Lanier finished his undergraduate degree at David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. He received a B.A. in Biblical Languages with a minor in Economics in 1981. His awards included the Granny White Bible Award for the highest G.P.A. among those planning to preach. From Lipscomb, Lanier then attended the Texas Tech University School of Law, completing his J.D. in 1984. Lanier was selected as the Texas Tech University School of Law Distinguished Alumnus for 2005. Lanier also serves on the law school’s Foundation Board and the Lubbock Christian University Foundation Board.

Lanier is married to Becky (Smith) and has five children. Together, Lanier and his wife have contributed to building the Mark and Becky Lanier Professional Development Center at the Texas Tech University School of Law. In 2010, Lanier and his family founded the Lanier Theological Library. The library houses a comprehensive collection of books, periodicals, historical documents and artifacts with topics ranging from church history and biblical studies to Egyptology and linguistics. It regularly hosts events with noted authors, guest lecturers, and researchers.
