Job Type: Full Time
Job Description: East Park Church of Christ in Danville, Illinois, is currently in search of a committed, conscientious pulpit minister, following the retirement of our current preacher, who diligently served our congregation for 26 years. East Park is a well established congregation which was planted in 1922. Danville is located in east-central Illinois, mere minutes from the Indiana border. Our congregation population of 50-60 people ranges from families with elementary-aged children to elderly couples. We seek an individual with enthusiasm, devotion to the Word, and an outgoing personality who is willing and eager to encourage not only all the different populations of our congregation, moving them more in the direction of a more God-like body of Christ who yearns to speak and act with boldness, but also with the community as well, showing them the love and understanding Christ and the Father has shown to us. We eventually hope our chosen gentleman would be instrumental in helping to reestablish an active youth group to edify and create future leaders among the young people of our church. We use multimedia presentations for our song service and sermons. Our leadership team includes two elders and five deacons. In addition to the salary provided, the church owns a four- bedroom house that is available to our minister. This home allows easy access to the building as it is located directly across the parking lot.
Please address any interest to our church’s email address: eastparkcofc@ gmail.com, as we would prefer all information be sent digitally.
We would like to see a resume, list of at least three references, and a video (this could be on Facebook or YouTube; please include a link if this is your chosen medium).

About the Organization: History of East Park Church of Christ
In 1922, the Church of Christ was believed to have been established on the corner of Walnut Street and Fairchild Street in Danville, Illinois. Another group began meeting at Gilbert and English Streets in 1929. A few years later, 1939 to be exact, the two groups decided to merge and met under the name of The Gilbert Street Church of Christ. By 1950, the congregation had grown to the point that they needed a larger building, and they moved to Walnut and English. When 1962 came around, the congregation saw a need for more classroom space, so seven acres were purchased on Voorhees Street, the site of our current building. The building was constructed by A.A. “Buster” Moss, a member of the congregation.
The first service was held in this building on September 30, 1962; the new congregation called themselves East Park Church of Christ. At one time, the congregation supported a preschool which was probably started by Ruth Carol Ringwold, wife of then pulpit minister Billy Ringwold, although the historical record of the founder is not clear. Later, in the spirit of supporting families in the community, the church also sponsored a free, morning preschool called Thursday School that catered to the needs of two to four year old children. This enterprise was founded by Mary Jo Sweet.
In 2012, the congregation celebrated fifty years at its current location. Commemorative bookmarks were given to all in attendance. These bookmarks listed the ministers and elders who served the congregation during those fifty years.
