Job Description: Overview
The Student Ministry Intern helps the Student Ministry by building relationships with the students, helping coordinate programming for ministry, and commits to focusing on their own growth and maturity as a leader. This position is for the purpose of exploring the possibility of a call to vocational ministry through practical ministry training


Leadership Responsibilities
Weekly leadership presence in student ministry setting. (Sunday morning Bible study/Wednesday night small groups)
Lead/teach once per month
Confirmation leader
Attend weekly staff meeting with pastoral/program staff to plan along side leadership team
Develop personally and professionally through resources given by church, leadership retreats, etc

Relationships
Meet with students in one-on-one or small group settings weekly for discipleship and relationship building
Visibility at student events on a school campus at least twice per month, balancing the visits to the various schools represented at the church
Active in getting to know families/parents involved with the student ministry
Monthly texts or calls to students who have not participated in student ministry

Programming
Work with the student ministry staff in planning and implementing engaging  weekly programs that attract students and build community
Help organize and plan major events/trips for student ministry
Social media postings
Weekly texts to all student ministry families

Time Commitment: 
15 hours per week
Wednesday Program (3 hours)
Sunday Program (2 hours)
Office hours (flexible on days and times) (5 hours)
Relational work with students and families (5 hours)
Special events, including but not limited to, camps and retreats
Seasonal (September-December; January-April; May-August)

Reporting Relationship: 
Work directly with Student Ministry Director and Associate Pastor

Qualifications:
Personal relationship with Christ, and in agreement with the faith statements of our church, particularly the 7 Essentials of Faith
Must be/become a member or an affiliate member of Westminster Presbyterian Church 
A minimum of one year in college
One year of student ministry experience preferred

Resources and Training Required: 
The Student Ministry staff will provide coaching and support and the Student Ministry Intern must attend the annual leadership & volunteer training
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Must complete Child Abuse Awareness Training
