Scott Larson was named LCU’s Interim Director of Athletics in June 2019 and was named to the full-time role in April 2020. Since his appointment a number of LCU’s athletic facilities have seen physical improvements, including the installation of lean rails at Hays Field (baseball), the installation of artificial turf and a videoboard at PlainsCapital Park (softball). He has also overseen the construction of LCU’s brand new Track & Soccer Complex that is scheduled for completion in late September 2021.

Since becoming fully eligible for NCAA championships in 2015, LCU student-athletes have excelled athletically as evidenced by numerous NCAA regional tournament appearances in team sports, NCAA national event appearances in individual sports, conference titles, and two national championships.

Student-athletes have also achieved high levels of academic success since Larson’s arrival to LCU, as evidence by a school record student-athlete GPA of 3.39 during the Spring 2020 term, including 51 student-athletes with a perfect 4.00 and 132 student-athletes named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Larson joined the Lubbock Christian University Athletic Department in June 2012 to help ensure LCU’s successful transition to the NCAA Division II ranks, serving as the program's first ever full time individual to oversee compliance. In the compliance role, he developed and initiated several programs to ensure the university's compliance with NCAA and Conference policies and served as the departmental liaison to the institutional offices of the Registrar, Financial Aid, Residence Life, and Dining Services.

Prior to his arrival in Lubbock, Larson served as Associate Director of Athletics at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C., where he helped the institution successfully transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I. His time in South Carolina followed administrative roles at the University of Texas at El Paso, Northern Arizona University, Gardner-Webb University, and the University of Wisconsin. Prior to working in intercollegiate athletics on a full-time basis, Larson worked as a Graduate Assistant in Compliance at Arizona State University from 1998-01. He began working towards his professional career as an undergraduate intern in the Athletics Compliance Office at the University of Tulsa and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Tulsa with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Sports Administration. He received his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University.

Along with his administrative duties, Larson also enjoys sports broadcasting and serves as a radio voice for several LCU athletics teams. He and his wife, Marla, an elementary school teacher in the Frenship Independent School District, are the proud parents of two sons, Cade and Reid.
