Position Summary: To be committed to the academic achievement of all students, support faculty and staff, and promote a professional learning environment that celebrates academic success, diversity, and faith. Members with a doctorate from a CACREP accredited program are encouraged to apply. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Require Qualifications: The Couple and Family Therapy core faculty is responsible for:

  • Leading the program faculty in establishing and following operational policies and procedures for the program.
  • Evaluating program curriculum and curriculum delivery, maintaining the highest level of accreditation compliance.
  • Determining and coordinating the interview phase of the admissions process and reviewing pre-interview transfer applicants, as necessary.
  • Working with the clinical supervisor to improve the practicum and internship experience as needed.
  • Organizing the administration of the comprehensive exam each semester.
  • Conducting the yearly Southern Accreditation for Colleges and Schools (SACS) assessment for the Couple and Family Therapy specialty.
  • Responding to all inquiries regarding the overall academic unit; providing or delegating year-round leadership to the operation of the Couple and Family Therapy specialty.
  • Evaluating the program for CACREP application and future accreditation purposes.
  • Being available to correspond and collaborate with the core and non-core faculty during formal and informal meetings regarding student and curricular issues; and
  • Assisting the Department Chair in maintaining departmental and program budgets by providing input on items such as assessments, technology, and other needed program resources.

Education and Experience: The core faculty must have an earned doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited program; must maintain a strong counseling identity, evidenced by:

  • Sustained memberships in professional counseling organizations.
  • Maintenance of Marriage and Family Therapy licensure in Texas.
  • Sustained professional development and renewal activities related to counseling.
  • Engagement in professional service and advocacy in counseling.
  • Engage in research and scholarly activities in the field of Counseling.

Teaching Requirements:

Responsibilities and duties expected from full-time faculty members at Lubbock Christian University include teaching 9-12 semester hours of class work in the fall and spring semesters.

Physical Requirements:  While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

  • Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
  • Required to regularly sit and stand.
  • Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail, and picking up small objects.
  • Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
  • Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 25+lbs.
