Functional Title: Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Assistant Track Coach

Reports To: Director of Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field.
Primary Function: The Head Cross Country Coach is responsible for management, direction, and development of all aspects of Lubbock Christian University cross country program, in alignment with the university mission, vision, and values. This Includes coaching, recruiting, academic oversight, and program administration.
Major Duties:
- Design and implement daily practice plans, supervise and evaluate student athletes, and ensure their physical well-being.
- Develop and review competition schedules, coordinate travel logistics, and analyze opponent performance to tailor training and strategy.
- Assign team positions, organize practices, and assign duties to assistant coaches as needed.
- Maintain fiscal responsibility for assigned budgets, submit NCAA/Division II compliance information, and follow all NCAA and conference rules.
- Serve as a role model for sportsmanship, communicate effectively with athletes, officials, and administration, and foster a positive team environment.
- Oversee the care, maintenance, and requisition of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Attend and contribute to departmental meetings and functions.
- Be fiscally responsible for the use of assigned operating and scholarship budgets monitoring expenditures regularly and ensuring timely turnaround of credit card statements, reimbursements, and vendor payments.
- Annually complete DII University and submit all compliance-related information in a timely manner.
- Self-report violations of NCAA and/or conference rules in a timely manner.
- Actively support and engage in student-athlete community engagement/service opportunities.
- Work with the Director in achieving fundraising goals and seeking additional fundraising opportunities.
- Continually assess actual team competitive performance versus expectations adjusting as necessary.
- Ensure student-athlete well-being by collaborating with the athletic training staff.
- Represent the university at the NCAA, Lone Star Conference, and other regional/national meetings/conferences as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Cross Country/Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; master’s degree preferred
- Previous coaching experience at the collegiate and/or high school level
Physical Requirements:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:
- Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
- Required to regularly sit and stand.
- Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects.
- Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly.
- Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
- Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 50+lbs.
NOTE: All LCU employees are required to complete Title IX & Information Security (FERPA) training and Data Security Training at the time of new hire and on an annual basis thereafter. Some positions/departments may require additional training for security or data needs.
