Moderator: Mayor Dan Pope

The second day of the 2017 conference will invite community participants to join in meaningful conversation; promoting a sense of unity and cohesion. Lubbock Mayor, Dan Pope will moderate a forum of community leaders in open discussion about needs of citizens, racial equity, accessibility, and healthy, sustainable change. The public is invited and will be given an opportunity to join in breakout groups for deeper discussion. We hope that this day of conversation will shed light into our community’s needs as well as help facilitate creative thought about how to ensure that all families on the South Plains share in the opportunities and success the city provides. Topics that will be discussed include: Teen pregnancy and STD rates, homeless population, minority struggles, and strengthening the relationship between the police department and community.
