Welcome to the Bible Department at LCU.
The Department of Biblical Studies has a long history of preparing students for success in ministry. For over fifty years, we have trained students for a variety of ministry opportunities, including, but not limited to, preaching, youth ministry, missions, and the ministry of scholarship. With an accomplished faculty, eighty-five percent of whom have terminal degrees, along with innumerable years of experience in ministry, the Department of Biblical Studies is as prepared as ever to serve the church in this way.
Since the late 1980s, our curricular offerings have included graduate programs in Bible and Ministry. We now offer six graduate degrees, including the Master of Divinity degree, all of which can be completed in a substantially on-line format. Our newest offering is the Master of Science in Family Ministry. An increasing phenomenon in the contemporary church is the development of the "Family Ministry" position. This trend corresponds with increasing pressure on the American family. To meet the need of training ministers for this challenge, the Department of Biblical Studies has teamed up with our Department of Behavioral Sciences to create a forty-eight hour degree that draws from our Family Life Education and Ministry courses to create this cutting-edge new program. We are excited about the promise of this new area of emphasis.
If you are interested in taking advantage of the opportunities for preparation in ministry that are available at LCU, please contact us. We continue to thank God for his grace toward us and pray that he will use us all for his purposes!
