What Makes Us Unique

Unlike many universities that use part-time and adjunct faculty to teach many of the classes, particularly freshman-level classes, at LCU, students studying matematics will be taught by professors of distinction:

  • All four members of our math faculty have gone through the LCU Learning Academy and been awarded the honor of being named “Learning Scholars,” meaning they focus on the best innovative teaching practices.
  • Our students have the opportunity to “get their hand dirty” on real world data. Departments across campus have research projects with large data files. They utilize the statistical skills of our students and faculty.
  • Students also have opportunities to study abroad in Avila, Spain during their sophomore fall semester.

U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics reports:

  • Employment in math occupations is projected to grow 28 percent from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations, and will add about 67,200 jobs. Growth is anticipated as businesses and government agencies continue to emphasize the use of big data, which math occupations analyze.
  • May 2021, math occupations had a median annual wage of $98,680, as compared to the median annual wage for all occupations of $45,760.
