The goal of the Nursing Center of Excellence is to promote student and alumni success through engagement in evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and nursing research utilization and dissemination for the purpose of improving the health of the people of the south plains region.

Recent News

Congratulations to Angela Allen, BSN, RN and Liz Riggs, BSN, RN who will serve as Co-Fellows in the Nursing Center of Excellence for 2021. Angela and Liz work together at the Lubbock Outpatient VA Clinic and have a passion for serving Veterans. As Fellows they hope to work with faculty, students, and prospective students to promote education and fellowship at LCU’s School of Nursing. Angela is a graduate of Covenant School of Nursing (RN) and Lubbock Christian University (BSN) and has a 17-year-old daughter, Audrey. Liz is a graduate of Walla Walla Community College (RN) and Western Governors University (BSN). She and her husband Jake have a 12-year-old son, Koleson. Whitney is available to assist students with resources in the Center of Excellence. Welcome Whitney!

Congratulations to Dr. Erin Gibson for completing her Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Texas Tyler.  Erin currently serves on the faculty at TTUHSC-SON.

Congratulations Dr. Kyle Johnson, on his successful completion of his Ph.D. from the University of Indiana School of Nursing. Dr. Johnson’s work in simulation has received national recognition by the National League for Nursing!
