Programs of Study: RN/BSN

  • The RN-BSN program is for graduates of associate degree and diploma nursing programs who hold an RN license. The program can be completed in 2-3 semesters while working full-time. Required university Core does not have to be completed before entering the program and may be taken concurrently with RN courses. All courses in the RN-BSN program, as well as most of the Core courses, are offered 100% online.
RN-BSN learning outcomes:
  • Incorporate empirical knowledge from nursing, religion, science and the humanities into the nursing practice.
  • Demonstrate accountability for incorporating professional, ethical, spiritual, moral and legal aspects of nursing into one's practice.
  • Communicate with members of the interprofessional health team, patients and their support network in promoting health and risk reduction.
  • Using the systematic decision making process, provide holistic, culturally appropriate nursing care to individuals, families, groups, and communities based on knowledge derived from theory, evidence-based practice and research.
  • Implement nursing roles designed to meet the changing health care needs of diverse populations, including spiritual values, health promotion, disease prevention, illness care, restoration, rehabilitation, health counseling, and teaching.
  • Advocate for a safe care environment that results in high quality patient outcomes in a variety of healthcare settings.
  • Implement leadership strategies for the advancement of nursing in an ever changing health care arena.

Not an RN?

If you are interested in nursing but you do not yet have your RN, there is a way to get there from here! The nursing program at LCU consists of three phases:

Phase One

Complete Covenant School of Nursing (CSON) pre-requisite courses and core LCU BSN Courses, (1-2 years)
Apply to CSON.  

Phase Two

If accepted, complete CSON Program and receive diploma (1.5-2 years)
Take State Licensure exam to receive license
Practice as RN

Phase Three

Complete remaining RN-BSN courses. Classes are taken one day/week to allow for fulltime RN employment (2-3 semesters).
Graduate with BSN
