Pre-Physical Therapy

Pre-Physical Therapy

Students preparing for a career in Physical Therapy are considered to be on a Pre-Physical Therapy path. In order to qualify for Physical Therapy Programs, students must take necessary prerequisites for each school.

In order to practice in this field, individuals must obtain a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. This may require additional education and clinical experience, for more information contact HealthProfessions@LCU.edu.

What do Physical Therapists do?

Physical therapists are concerned with identifying and maximizing quality-of-life and movement potential of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation, and rehabilitation. Click here for a full description of what Physical Therapists do.

What is the job outlook?

Employment growth for physical therapists is projected at 28 percent from 2016 to 2026, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for physical therapists is driven by baby boomers, who are maintaining active lifestyles, while remaining susceptible to health conditions (e.g., health disease, stroke, etc.) that often require the care and intervention of physical therapists.
