Speaker: Bill Kingston
Dr. Kingston grew up in rural West Texas as an only child, but as part of a larger extended family that loved one another and loved God. After graduating from Fluvanna High School, he enrolled in Texas Technological College. While at Texas Tech, Bill married his high school sweetheart Sammie, who has been the love of his life and best friend for 54 years.
Immediately after graduating from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree, Bill received “greetings from his friends and neighbors” and was enlisted into the military services. He was trained as a medical corpsman and served during the Vietnam War.
Dr. Kingston received his doctorate from Texas A&M University and completed additional graduate studies at Abilene Christian University, Sul Ross State University, and Lamar University. He was a teacher, coach, principal, or a superintendent in Texas public schools for more than 25 years.
After retiring from public schools, he served as Director of Administrative Services for the Region 18 Education Service Center in Midland, Texas. During this time, he taught for one year as an adjunct professor in the Superintendent Certification Program at Lubbock Christian University before coming to the university to teach fulltime. Dr. Kingston now serves as Director of Graduate Education in the School of Education at LCU.
Bill and Sammie have three children and five wonderful grandchildren.
