Cathy Young of Cakes by Cathy Young has never had to advertise her talent for baking. Her business was built completely on word-of-mouth, exquisite service to her clients, and the exceptional quality and artistry of her product. She is now one of the most sought-after bakers not only in San Antonio but in the state of Texas.

Cathy started learning her craft at an early age. She was always eager to help her family members as they baked cakes, cookies, desserts, and bread. The exposure to family time as well as seeing the joy that was created for others by eating what they baked instilled in her a love for baking. Later, as a mother of four children of her own, she began baking fresh goodies almost every day for PTAs, friends, and church events, and it was through church friendships that she was encouraged to turn her love of baking into a business.

She attended classes, honed her skills, and quickly discovered that her abilities were equal to her passion for baking. In 1992, she baked her first official wedding cake. After some advice and a lot of prayer, she stepped out in faith and started Cakes by Cathy Young.

Now 30 years later, she has baked for governors, congressmen, senators, professional athletes, and numerous others. Through her talent, she has made lifelong connections, and shared in countless celebrations. She is thankful to God every day for His abundant grace, blessings, guidance, and never-ending love.
