Mattox Presidential Scholars

Named in honor of Lubbock Christian University’s founding president, the F.W. Mattox Presidential Scholar Award is the premier undergraduate merit scholarship at Lubbock Christian University. The Presidential Scholar Award is an investment in students who exemplify extraordinary academic potential, leadership promise, and servant spirit. Early Admission to Medical School

Guaranteed Admission and MCAT Waived

Qualified entering LCU Honors College students are eligible for the Lubbock Christian University-Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine program.  LCU students participate in Medical School Early Admission Program mentoring at LCU, followed by junior year application for the TTUHSC School of Medicine. Accepted students receive guaranteed admission to medical school with the MCAT waived.

Scholarships

Honors College membership guarantees you a scholarship package of no less than 50% of tuition, with the potential for the scholarship amount to increase significantly based on higher test scores and your confirmed senior year grade point average. To secure your membership, complete your application for admission today!

Students admitted to the University Honors College receive the annual Honors Scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $2,000, in addition to the West Texas Promise Award which ranges from $7000 to $10,000 annually.

More Information

This award is a competitive scholarship offered to entering students with exceptional test scores, as well as superior high school transcripts and/or writing samples and potential for academic success.  The Helen Devitt Jones Scholars Award ranges from $500 to $3,000 in addition to the General Honors Scholarship. Students who are eligible to be considered for this award will have ACT composite scores of 30 or higher, SAT Critical Reading and Math scores of 1350 or higher, or SAT 16 Evidence-Based Reading and Math scores of 1400 or higher.

In order to renew Honors scholarships annually (for four years, except for transfer students), Honors students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.4 or higher. Students may be placed on probation for one semester without losing the scholarships.

All scholarship offers are pending subject to completion of all official financial aid forms.
