Library:
The LCU Library supports the Lubbock Christian University educational experience by connecting the academic community of learners to information and services that advance scholarly inquiry. Library faculty provide services and instruction as needed to this community of learners.
Qualifications:
The Library seeks a qualified librarian to manage access service points within the library, oversee the day-to-day operations of the circulation area and provide book cataloging and processing. This is a faculty position that serves as liaison to assigned subject areas and maintains the subject specific collections, research guides, and provides instruction to those areas.
An earned M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. from an accredited American Library Association institution is required unless applicant is a current grad student of an accredited M.L.S./M.L.I.S.-providing university. Current graduate students earning a M.L.S/M.L.I.S. are encouraged to apply but will not receive full faculty status until the degree is earned.
Preference will be shown to those with experience in cataloging (specifically with SirsiDynix products). Experience in library and information literacy instruction as well as higher education are also preferred. All qualified applicants must be professing Christians and be active, faithful members of a congregation of a Christian church and be willing to support the Christian mission and purpose of the university.
Major Responsibilities:
This is a faculty position with the requirements of:
- Teaching and scholarship
- Liaisonship to assigned areas
- Library instruction to assigned areas
- Collection management in assigned areas
Access Services:
- Supervision of Access Services Assistant and Evening Clerk
- Organization and management of circulation processes
Cataloging and Processing:
- Copy cataloging and some original cataloging
- Supervision of student workers performing physical processing
Collaboration with library colleagues and with other faculty as a liaison is expected. Maintaining confidentiality is required. Scholarly activity, service, and other duties as assigned are also expected of the successful applicant.

Lubbock Christian University is a private, masters-level university as classified by the Carnegie Foundation. Founded in 1957 and located in Lubbock, Texas, LCU is affiliated with the Churches of Christ. LCU is accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges Commission on Colleges and is a member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities. Currently, 88 full-time faculty members serve approximately 1750 undergraduate and graduate students on the LCU campus located in west Lubbock. Lubbock is a vibrant city with a population of about 250,000. Lubbock is the educational, medical, retail and entertainment center of the southern high plains of Texas.
