Lubbock Christian University (LCU) is pleased to announce the election of Alan Rhodes as the new Chair of the LCU Board of Trustees. Rhodes brings a wealth of experience to this position, having served on the board since 2015 offering valuable insights into the university’s strategic direction, financial health, and academic vision.
As a member of the LCU Board, Rhodes most recently served as the chair for the Trustee Development Committee. He was elected board chair at a recent meeting of the board, and as Chair, Mr. Rhodes will provide strategic leadership to the board, guiding LCU’s continued growth and mission to provide a Christ-centered education that prepares students for lives of purpose and service.
A resident of Amarillo, TX, Alan Rhodes is a shareholder with the Underwood Law Firm and has practiced with the firm for over 40 years, and he served as President of the Firm for more than two decades. Rhodes was instrumental in the development of Underwood’s Public Education Section and served as the President of the Texas Association of School Board’s Counsel of School Attorneys. Currently Mr. Rhodes’s practice focuses on planning for family businesses, including families owning dairies. In addition, Mr. Rhodes is a member of KAMP Hotels, LLC, a hotel development company with interests in a number of hotel ventures, including several in Amarillo and Lubbock.

Rhodes succeeds former Chair, Terry Creech of Midland, TX, who served with distinction and played a pivotal role in overseeing key initiatives such as capital projects including the Track and Soccer Complex, The Wayne and Yvonne Hinds Music Center, The Penny Gullo Tennis Center, and the recently completed Gullo Hall. During Creech’s tenure as board chair, the University Endowment increased by 123% and LCU’s seventh president, Dr. Scott McDowell, was appointed. The Board is confident that under Rhodes’ leadership, LCU will continue its trajectory of success, building on its reputation for academic excellence and faith-based education.

Alan Rhodes has a rich history of service and leadership in both his professional and personal life. Currently, Mr. Rhodes serves as Secretary and Director of Eastern European Mission, an organization that provided more than approximately 2 million Bibles and Bible based materials throughout eastern Europe in 2024.
Over the years Mr. Rhodes has served a number of other civic institutions. He has served as President of the Amarillo Country Club, the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, the Rotary Club of Amarillo, the Amarillo College Foundation, the Bridge, Children’s Advocacy Center, and Amarillo Advisory Board of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Mr. Rhodes has also served on the Executive Committee of the West Texas A&M University Foundation.
Also newly elected to serve as Vice Chair of the LCU Board of Trustees is Quentin Mimms. Before being elected as vice chair, Mimms chaired the Academic Affairs Committee of the board. Mimms is the Managing Director in the Dallas office of Alvarez & Marsal. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is also certified in financial forensics. Mimms’s forensic accounting practice is focused on complex commercial disputes and investigations.
Returning as officers of the LCU Board are Tia Clary, CFO of CoNetrix, who serves as board treasurer and Tony Peña, Senior Vice President for City Bank – Lubbock, who serves as board secretary.
