The 2018 Health Fair took place in the Rhodes Perrin Recreational Center on Wednesday, Sept. 19 with over 50 vendors represented in a variety of categories.
- Physical health and fitness was featured most prominently through offerings like a flu shot clinic from United Pharmacy which gave over 160 flu shots to students, faculty, and staff. There were glucose and blood pressure checks along with hearing screenings. For fitness, there were rowing machines from Crossfit Throne and tables for fitness classes like ilovekickboxing.com and YWCA Jazzercise.
- Spiritual wellness was promoted by groups such as the Green Lawn and Redeemer college ministries which offer Christ-centered spaces for healthy and safe fellowship.
- Mental health was encouraged with tables specifically for counseling and recovery, like LCU’s own counseling center and relaxation lab, which provides professional, confidential services on personal, relational, and academic concerns at LCU. Tables for addiction services were also available, such as The Ranch @ Dove Tree.
- Additionally, there were vendors and guest representing volunteer opportunities, safety, awareness and prevention, smoothie samples from Smoothie King, and more!
“The goal of the Health Fair is to provide free screenings and timely information on a variety of health related topics to promote awareness to the students, faculty, and staff at LCU,” said Shannon Grissom, LCU medical clinic. “There is no cost associated with the screenings, and the students are able to find local resources.”
