For March 9-10, Lubbock Christian University hosted the 5th Annual Healthy Families Conference with the theme "Citizens in Community."  The Healthy Families Conference strives to serve the community by providing quality continuing education to counselors and social workers who serve the Lubbock area. The two-day conference included keynote sessions, breakout sessions, social work, and counseling professional networking and continuing education units, and the community forum panel discussion. The panel discussion took place Friday with notable community leaders with varying perspectives and was moderated by Mayor Dan Pope. The focus was to emphasize how community could help address issues facing both the city of Lubbock and the greater nation. The Healthy Families Conference offered CEUs and training and aimed to promote a sense of unity and cohesion in the community. Dr. Terry Hargrave, professor of marriage and family therapy at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, Cali. and president at Amarillo Family Institute, Inc., was featured as the keynote speaker for the conference. He is recognized nationally for his work with intergenerational families, the articles and 13 books he's authored, and his presentations on family and marriage restoration.
