Lubbock Christian University was pleased to host over150 Community Partners and Lubbock friends on campus at the 2018 Community Partners luncheon. The Community Partners program has been active for two years as a means keep the university connected to friends and businesses in the community. Lindsey Holt, director of stewardship, serves as the contact for the program and prioritizes showing appreciation for partners who support the university. “We are part of the Lubbock community,” said Holt. “We want to engage with them as much as we want them to engage with us. We want to welcome them to campus and talk with them and thank them.” Many in the Community Partners program fly LCU flags at their businesses for landmark events, such as Homecoming or graduations. With the help of the LCU Veterans of Faith, the advancement office provides a flag service to deliver flags and pick them up. Many partners have also committed sponsorships for varying LCU events like guest speakers and Master Follies. LCU aims to show through this luncheon and other gestures of appreciation throughout the year that we are also committed to our friends in the community. “Our commitment to our community partners is that we will seek to be good neighbors, we will work to strengthen our community, and we will look for more and better ways to work together for the good of Lubbock and the region,” said President Tim Perrin. At the luncheon, President Tim Perrin discussed the exciting things happening at LCU and expressed his gratitude for the way the Lubbock community has come alongside the university before introducing the panel for the day: Lady Chaps Basketball coach Steve Gomez, Katie Pullano, a member of the Student Development Board and women’s soccer team captain, and Tess Bruffey, two-time NCAA DII All-American basketball player. The 2018 Community Partner of the Year Award was presented at the luncheon to Carpet Tech. Carpet Tech has been a supporter of LCU for many years, going above and beyond in their investment and engagement with the university. This is the second year LCU has hosted a luncheon and will continue to host as the program grows. “We understand that partnerships come in very different sizes and very different packages,” said Holt. “And we want to be sure we’re saying thank you for all of it.”
