Five members of the Lubbock Christian University baseball team were recognized as ABCA/Rawlings All-South Central Region selections by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) as Ricky Contreras (pitcher) received First Team honors and Jaime Bustamante (shortstop) and Daniel Crooks (pitcher), Tony Reyes (first base), and Ryan Rogers (designated hitter) claimed Second Team honors.

Contreras, a sophomore pitcher, is 10-2 on the season with a 2.67 ERA. He has made 16 starts (tied for fifth nationally), with seven going the distance to rank fourth nationally in complete games. The Lubbock, Texas native leads the conference and ranks 12th nationally in victories on the mound with 10. A Heartland Conference First Team selection and Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Year, Contreras was also a D2CCA and NCBWA All-Region recipient.

Bustamante, LCU's primary leadoff batter, hit .342 this season with 75 hits and 36 RBI. His 75 hits ranks third in the conference. The Presidio, Texas native also ranks second in the conference in triples (6, which ranks tied for 12th nationally), fifth in runs (51) and sixth in total bases with 110. Bustamante, who also claimed D2CCA and NCBWA All-Region honors, has claimed Heartland Conference All-Conference and All-Defensive Team honors with a .934 fielding percentage.

Crooks went 9-2 on the mound this season with a 2.88 ERA. The Midland, Texas native led the Chaps in strikeouts (96) and in holding opponents to a .211 batting average. He allowed an average of 6.5 hits (leads the conference) and 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings during the season to lead the team in each category.

Reyes was an All-Heartland Conference and All-Heartland Conference Defensive Team member. The Levelland, Texas product led the Chaps in hits (76, which also leads the conference), with 15 doubles (10th in the conference) and 33 runs-batted-in. He ranked second on the squad in batting with a mark of .345 this season. Defensively, Reyes claimed his second consecutive All-Defensive Team honor (had only two errors on the season). He is the only active player to be recognized in multiple seasons on the All-Defensive Team.

Rogers claims his third All-Region selection this season, as earlier he was named D2CCA and NCBWA All-Region. The junior from Littlefield, Texas claimed All-Conference honors with a .357 hitting mark on the season. He led the team with 17 doubles (fourth in the conference) and 46 RBI (sixth in conference).

The honors were the first for all Chaps, except Contreras, who was a Second Team member last season. The five honors bring LCU to 15 players that have received ABCA All-Region honors since joining NCAA Div. II. The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007. The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level.
