The Gonsioroski family has found their way back to West Texas after their daughter, Hope, joined the Lubbock Christian University (LCU) volleyball team.

The Gonsioroski family, hailing from Baker, Montana, were no strangers to Lubbock. In fact, Hope’s older brother, Luke, was signed to play football for Texas Tech University in 2017 before a tragic brain tumor claimed his life.

The Texas Tech and greater Lubbock community rallied around the family, and through that process, the Gonsioroski family fell in love with Lubbock. Seven years later, Hope’s dream of playing college volleyball brought her family back to the Hub City when she signed to play as an outside hitter for the Lady Chaps.

“There’s no such thing as coincidences or irony,” Hope emphasized. “It’s like God is leading us through our lives, whether we can feel it or not.”

LCU Volleyball head coach Keith Giboney said he’s excited for Hope to begin her story.

“This is one of those situations where God didn’t say no,” he shared. “She’s transitioning into this new life; she has her own story to tell, and she will always have Luke and that legacy. But I also want her to be able to write her own story.”

That story is just beginning as she returns to Lubbock and begins her career at LCU. “I just knew this was home,” she shared.
