Lubbock Christian University (LCU) and the LCU Office of Alumni Relations will recognize the 2026 Alumni Awards recipients on Friday, May 8, at 11:45 a.m. in the Baker Conference Center on the LCU campus. The awards honor distinguished alumni for significant professional achievement and for meaningful service and impact in their communities, churches, and professions.

This year’s honorees represent decades of leadership and service across education, business, ministry, medicine, and university advancement.
Distinguished Alumnus of the Year – Jimmy Moore, Class of 1992
Jimmy Moore, a 1992 graduate of Lubbock Christian University, has been named Distinguished Alumnus of the Year in recognition of his significant professional and personal achievement and his lifelong impact across education, athletics, and nonprofit leadership. Moore currently serves as Director of Church Strengthening and Support for The Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO), where he leads efforts to equip churches across the United States and around the world to engage in adoption, foster care, and orphan care ministries through a global network of more than 290 partner organizations. His career reflects extensive and varied leadership in public education and athletics, including service as head men’s and women’s basketball coach at the collegiate and high school levels, Athletic Director at Lubbock Christian University, and multiple campus and district leadership roles within Lubbock ISD, where he served as assistant principal, associate principal, principal of both Estacado High School and Dunbar Middle School, and later as Human Resources Director. Moore holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from LCU and completed advanced leadership training through Harvard University’s Evolving Principal Leadership Academy, underscoring a professional path defined by broad influence, institutional leadership, and sustained commitment to student and community development.
Young Alumnus of the Year – Matt McCall, Class of 2009
Matt McCall, a 2009 graduate of Lubbock Christian University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, has been named Young Alumnus of the Year in recognition of significant professional achievement at age 40 and under. A Certified Public Accountant, McCall serves as Chief Financial Officer of American Constructors, an employee-owned construction management firm based in Nashville, Tennessee. Since joining the company in 2012 and being appointed CFO in 2015, he has overseen its financial operations and played a key leadership role in the company’s 2017 transition to an employee stock ownership plan. Under his financial leadership, the firm has continued to grow, earning industry recognition and, in 2025, being ranked among the fastest-growing companies in Middle Tennessee by the Nashville Business Journal.
F.W. Mattox Award – Dr. Byron Rogers, Class of 1981, and Karen Rogers, Class of 1982
Dr. Byron Rogers, a 1981 graduate of Lubbock Christian University, and Karen Rogers, class of 1982, have been named recipients of the F.W. Mattox Award in recognition of their excellence in service and outstanding contributions to the university. Together, they have devoted decades of faithful leadership to LCU, with Dr. Rogers serving 40 years as a professor and department chair in chemistry and biochemistry, while also contributing as a lecturer in music, and Karen contributing 27 years of dedicated service as assistant controller and director of accounting, strengthening the university’s financial foundation. Both have invested deeply in the life of the LCU community through their professional roles and personal commitment. As they retire this year, the Rogers leave a lasting legacy of integrity, leadership, and service that has profoundly shaped the university.
K.C. Moser Award – Scott Jarvis, Class of 1987
Scott Jarvis, a 1987 graduate of Lubbock Christian University, has been named the recipient of the K.C. Moser Award in recognition of excellence and outstanding service to the Kingdom of God. Jarvis has devoted decades to ministry, serving as a youth minister at Woodlawn Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas, and at 3rd & Kilgore Church of Christ in Portales, New Mexico, before continuing his work in higher education as an instructor and Bible Chair Director at Eastern New Mexico University, where he also served five years as religion department chair and was later named emeritus. He went on to serve 19 years as preaching minister at Garden Ridge Church of Christ in Lewisville, Texas, while also investing in future generations through more than 20 years of teaching at LCU’s Encounter high school camp and 18 years volunteering with the Food 4 Kids program at Lakeland Elementary.
Gary & Pat Estep Award – Bryan H. Pruitt, M.D., Class of 1982
Bryan H. Pruitt, M.D., a 1982 graduate of Lubbock Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, has been named the recipient of the Gary & Pat Estep Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to the sciences. Dr. Pruitt has practiced medicine for more than three decades and is recognized nationally as one of Dallas’ leading authorities in facial plastic surgery. He earned his M.D. from The University of Texas Medical School, graduating as the highest-ranking student in his class of 215 and receiving top honors including induction into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, as well as multiple awards recognizing excellence in internal medicine, anatomy, and national board examinations. His extensive post-graduate training includes surgical residencies at UT Southwestern Medical School/Parkland Hospital and Emory University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in facial aesthetic surgery in Miami, Florida, along with advanced training experiences in vascular, cardiac, and reconstructive surgery at leading institutions including Oxford University, Massachusetts General Hospital, the National Heart Hospital in London, Baylor College of Medicine, and the Texas Heart Institute. Board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Pruitt has also held leadership roles as president of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons and has participated in medical mission work in Africa and Central America, reflecting a distinguished career marked by clinical excellence, advanced surgical expertise, and global medical service.
