LCU Community and Friends of the University Gather for Fountains on the Mall Dedication
Lubbock Christian University students, faculty, staff, and friends of the university gathered on Tuesday, Apr. 7, for the Dedication of The Fountains on the Mall. The new water feature was made possible by the generous gift given to the university by Tony and Dolly Gullo.
President Tim Perrin shared his thoughts at the dedication:
“The Fountains on the Mall are a significant addition to the LCU campus, situated right at the heart of our campus mall. The Fountains will provide a beautiful gathering place for the LCU community for many years to come, strengthening the ties that bind us together. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Tony and Dolly Gullo for their generous support of this project and for their sustained commitment to enhancing the LCU campus.”
The Gullos have made a profound impact on the campus starting with the two large bronze Chaparrals (LCU's mascots), enhanced lighting and walkways, a large banner on the side on the McDonald Moody auditorium, and now The Fountains on the Mall.
Construction of the water feature was made possible through the work of LCU’s construction team members Mike Sellek, Tim Fealty, Johnny Martinez, and Wilbur Jones, in partnership with WCA Design Studio, LLC, Jonathan Gomez Concrete, Hearon Electric, Steve Plank Masonry, and Lueders Limestone.
Not only does the new addition serve as a wonderful addition to the LCU campus and provide a beautiful gathering space, it also serves as an improvement to the university’s eco-friendly initiative. The water that flows through the fountain is connected to the university’s geo-thermal energy system.
