Lubbock Christian University signed an articulation agreement with Texas Tech’s Edward E. Whitacre, Jr. College of Engineering on Friday, Apr. 17, 2015, in the Cardwell Welcome Center Rotunda. Lubbock Christian University President Tim Perrin and LCU Dean of the College of Professional Studies, Toby Rogers, along with Texas Tech University Provost Lawrence Schovanec and TTU Dean of the Edward E. Whitacre, Jr. College of Engineering, Dr. Al Sacco, Jr., joined together for the event, sharing comments about the agreement and answering any questions potential engineering students had. The agreement will allow engineering students to spend their first two and a half years of their college career at Lubbock Christian University and then transition to Texas Tech for the next level of their education. The agreement also puts into writing the exact courses students will need to take in order to transfer to the various fields of engineering Tech has to offer. This also allows students to obtain a dual degree, a BA in Mathematics from LCU and an engineering degree of their choice from TTU. “The signing of this articulation agreement will improve the process of Lubbock Christian University pre-engineering students transferring into a variety of engineering programs at Texas Tech University. Lubbock Christian students are well prepared to succeed in various STEM fields and are grateful to partner with the well-respected School of Engineering at Texas Tech University,” Toby Rogers said. LCU engineering students are also given the opportunity to remain a part of campus life even after they have transferred to Tech. Jessica Rogers, LCU chemistry professor and engineering adviser, explained that many students who are thriving and have become comfortable in the LCU environment often don’t want to part with the family they have made on campus.
