Lubbock Christian University and CoNetrix Partner to Bring Cyber Security Awareness to Lubbock Businesses

Lubbock Christian University and CoNetrix are teaming up on October 12 to provide business leaders with practical training in cloud computing safety and cyber security best practices. This free half-day, in-person event will provide best practices to implement in any organization with employees who conduct business digitally.

Based in Lubbock, CoNetrix Technology provides IT services, computer network support, and network design and implementation for businesses throughout Texas and New Mexico. CoNetrix routinely designs, implements, and manages high security IT environments, and addresses IT security challenges faced by businesses today.

Lubbock Christian University and CoNetrix are joined by other Lubbock organizations to help promote the event and to champion cyber security awareness for the Lubbock business community, including City Bank, Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Reese Technology Center, and Unite Private Networks.

The event, which begins at 8:30 Wednesday morning, will feature speakers Kris Loveless, Chief Information Officer at City Bank; Davela Siangldeb, Special Agent in Computer, IT, an Electronic Crimes unit of the Texas Department of Public Safety; and Russ Horn, President of CoNetrix.

According to a recent Stanford University study, a key part in 88% of cybersecurity breaches is human error. Managing employee cyber risk is essential for organizations to steer clear of a user-related data breach and to demonstrate regulatory compliance, when needed.

The speakers will address topics such as “Demistify Cloud Security,” “Protecting your Business Against Criminal Activity,” and, “What’s Next for Managing Small Business Cybersecurity.”
