Lubbock Christian University Boasts Growth in Fall 2024 Enrollment

Lubbock Christian University (LCU) is pleased to report positive growth in student enrollment and has welcomed to campus an increased number of first-time freshmen, new transfer students, and new graduate students. These numbers, paired with the large number of continuing students from last school year, bring the university’s total enrollment for fall 2024 to 1595 students.

LCU’s undergraduate student population growth boasts enrollment just shy of 1300 students, which includes an increase in the freshman class of 12% over the previous year. The number of new graduate students almost doubled that from a year ago, highlighting the growth of opportunities being offered for students at the graduate level.

New degree offerings are a major factor for increased enrollment, including an online Clinical Doctor of Nursing Practice. Also offered online are the new Master of Human Performance, Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling, and a Master of Christian Ministry with an accompanying certificate program in children’s ministry.

Additionally, some of the increase in student enrollment is the result of new undergraduate adult degree completion programs. These online programs are geared toward those who have some college hours but have never finished their undergraduate degrees, specifically designed to integrate as much of that existing college credit as possible to forge a direct and low-cost path to obtaining bachelor’s degrees in Managerial Leadership or University Studies.

Along with new academic degree offerings, the university has experienced significant improvements in academic and living spaces for on-campus students. Newly refurbished academic facilities include the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation Honors College and new student housing in Gullo Hall, which increases and enhances the spaces for students to study, live, and do life together.

President Scott McDowell commented, “We want to credit God for helping us to bring students to this special place that provides not only a world-class education, but a transformational experience. To be up 12% in new freshman as well as up overall in a challenging industry is a testament to the good work of our people and to the faithfulness of our God.”
