Lubbock Christian University (LCU) has been recognized as being one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For® program. This is the 11th year the university has achieved this recognition which is based on results from a random survey of LCU employees conducted in the spring.

The results, released by The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 199 colleges and universities. In all, only 76 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies.

LCU received honors for excelling in the following categories this year:

  • Mission & Pride
  • Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
  • Faculty & Staff Well-being

LCU President, Dr. Scott McDowell, shared, “Lubbock Christian University is honored to receive this recognition. The designation is a testimony to the way our people bring our Christ-centered mission to life in a tangible way. Our brand promise, ‘we walk with you’, not only applies to our students, but also to the countless interactions among and between our faculty and staff. LCU is a genuinely special place precisely because of the people who work here.”

Offering a quality education that goes beyond the classroom, increasing and updating facilities, and focusing on academic tenacity, LCU is continually striving for improvement as an institution for faculty, staff, and students alike to work and learn. In a year with record setting enrollment and the first cohort of doctoral students set to graduate in December through the School of Nursing, the university is experiencing great momentum that adds excitement and anticipation to the employee’s work experience.

With the release of the official enrollment numbers for the 2025-26 school year, LCU has enrolled 450 new incoming freshmen, bringing the total enrollment to 1683 students, an increase of 6% from the previous year and the highest since 2019.

The Great Colleges to Work For® program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country. ModernThink, a strategic human capital consulting firm, administered the survey and analyzed the results.

Richard K. Boyer, Chief Culture Strategist at ModernThink, stated, “In a time of unprecedented challenges for higher education, these institutions have demonstrated remarkable unity. From faculty and staff to administrators and facilities teams, everyone plays a vital role in building workplaces where people feel supported and valued. Great workplaces do not happen by accident—they are the result of intentional choices and courageous leadership. These institutions are leading by example.”
