Lubbock Christian University School of Business Awarded Accreditation

The Lubbock Christian University (LCU) School of Business was awarded accreditation of its business programs by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners.

ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the School of Business at Lubbock Christian University meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP. Accreditation by ACBSP, the accrediting organization for business schools, is widely considered a hallmark of excellence in business education.

Matt Bumstead, recently appointed Dean of the LCU School of Business, said, “Receiving ACBSP accreditation is another significant milestone for the LCU School of Business and its exceptional faculty. This recognition demonstrates that the quality of our graduates’ academic experience meets and exceeds that of other universities. Such an endorsement is further evidence of the unwavering commitment to academic excellence found across our entire university.”

LCU business students, upon graduation, have excellent career opportunities because of their training in strong work ethic, humility, and integrity, but also for mission-focused energy, positive contribution, winning attitude, and commitment to high standards in all they do.

Will Wehe, LCU School of Business alum (2017) and current auditor at Deloitte, said, “I am where I am today, a CPA at a top tier accounting firm, because of the effort, dedication, and quality I found in the education and professors of the school of business. The combination of preparation in both faith and business is something I know I could never, and will never, find anywhere else.”

One of Will's classmates, Ashley Ledford, expressed her own gratitude for her experience in the program. "Most people go to college to get a degree—I went to college and got an education. LCU not only blessed me with the ability to thrive in any facet of business, but truly reshaped the foundation of my life and still influences the decisions I make daily, both professionally and personally. Christ-centered higher education challenged me to become a better leader and a better servant to others. The relationships built during my time in the LCU School of Business will last a lifetime and are what undoubtedly elevated me to get where I am today, paving the first steps of many on my career journey."

Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support to determine whether or not the business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.

“Lubbock Christian University has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale. “This accreditation is evidence that LCU is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students.
