For the first time since COVID-19 began in 2020, Lubbock Christian University (LCU) will open seats for Master Follies shows to the public—tickets will go on sale at noon on Wednesday, January 12.
“We are excited to again host Master Follies, one of LCU’s longest standing traditions, in-person this year,” commented Warren McNeill, Vice President of University Relations, noting that last year’s production of the show was completely online. “The whole campus anticipates the creativity, humor, and showmanship from our social clubs, and having many of our alumni, parents, and friends to come for the weekend creates a wonderful atmosphere.”
Master Follies returns as a part of Homecoming 2022, which will take place from Thursday, February 3 through Sunday, February 6, and tickets for the shows will be available starting at 12:00 noon on January 12. Seats for the Saturday night show usually sell out within minutes, so interested guests are encouraged to purchase as close to noon as possible. This year’s Master Follies theme is “Best Thing Ever.”
Following a livestreamed event in 2021 due to COVID-19 precautions, the live Master Follies shows will reopen to the public for all three of the regular showtimes: the Friday (February 4) night show at 8:00 p.m., the Saturday (February 5) matinee at 3:00 p.m., and the final Saturday evening showtime at 8:00 p.m. The awards announcement, which follows the final show, will also be streamed online.
“We’re so excited to have our alumni and friends back on campus—not only for Master Follies, but for all of the exciting things that are happening during Homecoming this year,” shared Lisa Fraze, Director of Alumni Relations.
“We’re hosting a Master Follies Pre-Party with ‘Doc’ Williams, where he’ll be sharing some of the history of the show and chatting with former hosts and hostesses,” she continued, “but we’re also introducing some new family-friendly events, including a carnival/tailgate on Saturday, which will have great food, carnival games, a bouncy-house, face-painting, and lots of fun activities for guests of all ages before the basketball games that afternoon.”
