Work has begun on the renovations to the Christian Development Center (CDC) on Lubbock Christian University’s campus.
“The renovations and new construction taking place in the CDC have been a longtime coming. As such, we are all grateful for the generous Smith donation and the message such a substantial gift communicates to the university, alumni, and our larger constituent community about the excellent work taking place in our college,” said Dr. Steve Bonner, associate Bible professor and director of Vocati.
The renovation, made possible by a generous $5.7 million donation by longtime friends of the university Al and Pat Smith, will include an expansion on the south side of the building, as well as an elevator and updated classrooms and restroom facilities. This iconic building on the campus will house the College of Biblical Studies, including the new Graduate school of Theology.
“The building is currently undergoing aesthetic, structural, and functional updates that will not only enhance the educational experience for students and faculty, but will also foster an atmosphere of academic excellence where faith seeks understanding, wisdom is pursued, vocation is discerned, and service is fostered,” Bonner said. “We confidently anticipate its completion and the excitement these changes bring to the Lubbock Christian University campus and the larger LCU community."
The project is expected to be completed by August of 2017.
