Sixth Annual Lanier Theological Library Lecture Featured Dr. Tremper Longman III

LCU hosted Dr. Tremper Longman III in the sixth annual Lanier Theological Library Lecture Series on Thursday, Sept. 14. Dr. Longman, who earned his Ph.D. in ancient Near Eastern studies from Yale University and has authored or co-authored over thirty books and written numerous articles, spoke on, “God is a Warrior: Coming to Terms with Divine Violence in the Old Testament.” Dr. Longman addresses crowd at lectureIn addition, Longman was one of the key translators of the popular New Living Translation and has served as a consultant on other popular translations of the Bible including the Message, the New Century Version, and the Holman Standard Bible. LCU President Tim Perrin said, "We are thrilled to have welcomed Dr. Tremper Longman III as the featured speaker for the 6th annual Lanier Theological Library Lecture at LCU. Through the generous support of Mark and Becky Lanier and the Lanier Theological Library and with the sponsorship of Platinum Bank, we have the opportunity each year to hear and learn from leading thinkers and writers about timely and important topics of interest to those who profess the name of Jesus." The Lanier Theological Lecture series has entered its sixth year and has hosted speakers who have discussed topics such as, "Does the Bible Support Slavery?" and "C.S. Lewis and the Post Modern Generation: His Message 50 Years Later." As a part of this lecture series, LCU also hosted the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit on campus in 2014.
