Instrumental Ensembles
Instrumental Ensembles

LCU is pleased to offer several Instrumental Ensembles to any student on campus.  In addition to scholarship money for participation, these groups offer tight-knit communities within which you can explore and develop your musical talent.

Auditions take place at the beginning of each semester, and any student with previous instrumental experience is highly encouraged to join an ensemble that interests them. Ensembles perform at various events throughout the school year and are made up of students from all majors. With several instrumental ensembles available, any LCU student can find a group to develop their musicianship, experience the excellence of the Department of Communication and Fine Arts, and participate in the greater LCU community.

If you are interested in auditioning for one of our ensembles, please be sure to fill out the audition reservation form below (note: this does not apply to auditions for the Big Blue Basketball Band).

Symphonic Band

The LCU Symphonic Band, directed by Dr. Lisa Tatum, is a wind and percussion ensemble that performs regularly throughout the school year. This ensemble is open to any student (whether they are majoring in music or not), and individuals with previous experience in high school band programs are highly encouraged to audition.

The Symphonic Band performs a wide variety of traditional and contemporary wind band music and several opportunities exist for collaboration with renowned musicians (including our wonderful LCU music faculty), composers, and clinicians. Students are able to interact and perform with each other while continuing to develop important technical and artistic musical skills. Additionally, several performances take place in the beautiful McDonald Moody Auditorium, giving students the full thrill of a professional artistic experience.

Auditions for the LCU Symphonic Band typically take place at the beginning of the school year in the Fall (although opportunities to join mid-year may also be available). Individuals seeking to audition for the group will need to submit an online audition reservation form.

For additional information about auditions or questions about the LCU Symphonic Band, please feel free to contact Dr. Lisa Tatum, Director of Bands.
