Monica Hill , Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Exercise & Sports Science

Monica J. Hill serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences in the B. Ward Lane College of Science and Health Profession. Hill’s areas of expertise are performance psychology, business, statistics, mental performance coaching, and program development. Hill has taught multiple subjects at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The courses include Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology, Applied Sport and Performance Psychology, Management of Sport, Sport in Society, and Research Methods and Design in Human Performance, Statistical Analysis, and Applied Professional Experience. Dr. Hill also teaches Performance Psychology and Psychological and Behavioral Aspects of Health at the doctoral level at Grand Canyon University and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, respectively.

Hill earned a Ph.D. in Performance Psychology from Grand Canyon University and a master’s in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She also has a Master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences and holds two bachelor's degrees in psychology and sociology from Texas Tech University.

Before returning to Texas, Dr. Hill lived in California, designing, implementing, and managing for-profit and federally funded non-profit K-12 supplemental learning programs. Hill returned to Texas and worked as a Unit Coordinator of Academic Success for the Texas Tech University Lauro Cavazos and Ophelia Powell-Malone Mentoring Program (Mentor Tech), where she was responsible for recruiting and retaining faculty, staff, and graduate student mentors. While at TTU, Dr. Hill also taught a course on Programs for Academic Development and Retention Strategies for academically underperforming students.

Later, Hill accepted a position to serve as the Chief Operating Officer and Grant Accountant for the Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) programs through 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grants authorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act (Title IV, Part B, 2015) with Communities in Schools of the South Plains. Monica joined the LCU Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences in the fall of 2015 as an adjunct. In 2017, Monica became an Assistant Professor. She now serves as an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Master of Science in Human Performance Program. Hill continues work in the non-profit arena, serving as an External Evaluator for federally funded programs. Hill applies her terminal degree by working as a Mental Performance Psychologist with competitive athletes and business professionals.

Hill is married to Darrell Hill, blessed to be a mother to incredible children, and loved by the greatest Love she will ever know - Christ.
