Academic Testing Coordinator

Functional Title: Academic Testing Coordinator
Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Department: Center for Student Success
Reports To: Director of Center for Student Success

Primary Function: Provide testing opportunities for national and institutional examinations for LCU students and other interested persons. Serve as the local subject matter expert on testing procedures, requirements, guidelines, and all technical aspects of ordering, administrating, and returning standardized academic tests.

Major Duties:

  • Coordinate and proctor standardized group and individual test administrations (i.e., ACT, CLEP, EPP, DSST).
  • Stay informed about general principles, practices, and university policy pertaining to academic testing services.
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate testing program policies, procedures, and the academic year's testing schedule
  • Maintain inventory of all testing materials and order appropriate supplies as needed.
  • Ensure that all test administration is carried out in compliance with relevant university and higher education policies, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Reserve facilities when needed for group administrations.
  • Employ and train staff to help during test administration.
  • Provide information to students about testing policies, procedures, and outcomes.
  • Communicate with academic departments about test results for academic advising of current students (i.e., Scores, credit hours applied to transcripts).
  • Receive advanced credit score reports and provide reports to the Registrar’s office.
  • Coordinate Credit by Examination (CBE) petitions and approvals for eligible students
  • Administer distance proctoring exams requested by non-LCU college students
  • Stay informed of advancing technology needed to administer exams.
  • Meet with assigned students frequently to develop proper study habits, time management methods and other skills that foster student success.
  • Regularly document student’s progress toward identified goals and ensure notes are maintained in student’s personal file.
  • Coordinate with faculty to better advise and support students.
  • Be knowledgeable of other campus support resources available for students and refer students for additional support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • Have a record of successful administrative and/or appropriate student service experience.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

  • Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
  • Required to regularly sit and stand.
  • Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects.
  • Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
  • Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 25+lbs.

NOTE: All LCU employees are required to complete Title IX & Information Security (FERPA) training and Data Security Training at the time of new hire and on an annual basis thereafter. Some positions/departments may require additional training for security or data needs.
