Primary Function: Lubbock Christian University is seeking a mission-driven and creative Social Media Manager to lead and manage the university’s social media presence across all major platforms. This role is essential in telling our university’s story, engaging key audiences, and supporting student recruitment and community engagement efforts — all within the context of a Christ-centered mission. The Social Media Manager is responsible for content planning, creation, publishing, and performance monitoring, and serves as the university’s digital voice across platforms.

Major Duties:

  • Develop and manage a strategic content calendar for institutional social media platforms (Currently Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube).
  • Create, publish, and manage engaging, brand-aligned content that reflects the life, mission, and values of the university, which includes photography and graphic design.
  • Assist with graphic design, photography, and videography for the university as needed.
  • Partner with departments that have social media managers and accounts to promote cross-posting for programs, events, and stories.
  • Serve as the primary social media voice for the university, engaging with followers, responding to messages, and fostering positive community interaction.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to assess performance and inform content adjustments and strategy improvements.
  • Assist in managing paid social campaigns to support enrollment, fundraising, and awareness goals.
  • Identify and implement social media trends, best practices, and platform updates relevant to current prospective students and higher education audiences.
  • Mentor and oversee student interns or ambassadors contributing to social content.
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging, visual identity, and adherence to the university’s Christian mission across all digital channels.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience managing social media for a brand or organization (not just personal accounts).
  • Familiarity with short-form video strategy (e.g., Reels, TikToks)
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and content compliance.
  • Basic photography and video editing skills.
  • Experience managing students or interns in a professional setting.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience managing social media accounts, ideally in higher education or a mission-driven organization.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills tailored to a variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout, Later), platform analytics, and visual content tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Understanding of audience engagement strategies and performance tracking across platforms.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate across departments.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of a Christian university.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

  • Be ambulatory around campus and in buildings.
  • Required to regularly sit and stand.
  • Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects.
  • Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information.
  • Required to lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 25+lbs.

NOTE: All LCU employees are required to complete Title IX & Information Security (FERPA) training and Data Security Training at the time of new hire and on an annual basis thereafter. Some positions/departments may require additional training for security or data needs.
