welcome to Lubbock Christian University my name is Christy in a moment you'll hear from Brett where admissions advisors that LCU Lubbock Christian University is a private Christian University located in Lubbock Texas at LCU you will find a supportive environment in which to learn as you're being challenged to grow academically emotionally and spiritually I'm so glad that you're interested in LCU and I'm excited to lead you on this virtual tour of our campus this is the Cargill Welcome Center home to the office of admissions financial aid marketing communications in the University Advancement when you come for a campus visit this is where your admissions advisor will begin your tour this is the f/w Maddox administration building which was the first building on this campus when the Lubbock Christian college was founded in 1957 founders Hall showcases photos of our first president FW Maddox as well as LC C's first graduating class ever since those first days when the campus was surrounded by cotton fields it has always been home to visionary leaders from dr. FW Maddox to our current president dr. Scott McDowell just as the founders vision looked to a future full of promise we know that great things are in store for you and while the college has become a university with many new additions our average class size is just 13 to 1 that means you won't be just a number here the professors at LC you take a real interest in getting to know you their students [Music] the LCU library is next and at the front of the library is a student favorite Starbucks the library offers a great place to grab a coffee gather with friends and study for classes the library has many resources available for students beginning with collaborative spaces and computers for group work IT representatives ready to assist with any computer or printer issues numerous databases and shelves of journals and books the University Writing Center is also found here in the library it is a student resource that offers a free individualized help with writing for any LCU student whatever the subject our project here we are in the Student Union Building also known as the sub the sub offers a great place for students to hang out between classes you'll also find the university post office chef's express another great dining option and the shaft store where you can get the latest chap gear and textbooks for your classes on the second floor of the sub is home to many valuable resources for students including our medical clinic counseling center Public Safety headquarters residential life office and student affairs team getting involved in activities on campus is the way to make the most of your experience at LC u we have over thirty different clubs and organizations whether you want to participate in a social club the pre-health professions club Student Senate the International Student Association or a gaming club there is a place for you to get involved the LCU community gathers for Chapel four times a week here in the McDonald Moody auditorium our theater department performs major productions in the fall spring and summer of each year one of the highlights of the social club experience is master Follies this takes place here in the Moody every year over Homecoming weekend this is the Krista Dobbs Center for business it's the newest building on campus completed in August of 2018 the first thing you will notice when you enter the School of Business is the New York Stock Exchange ticker reflecting real-time values the theater seating lecture hall provides a great stage for guest lectures and some of the introduction to business classes the School of Business takes students on a variety of experience trips so whether it is New York to visit the New York Stock Exchange or to Dallas to meet with executives from Southwest Airlines the Dallas Cowboys or interstate battery LCU business students have many opportunities to make connections and learn from industry leaders here we are in the CLK Christian Development Center it is home to the College of biblical studies mission Link and honors college as a student at LC you will take four Bible classes which are part of the university's core curriculum for all graduates these courses provide an opportunity for you to discover and deepen your own faith as we enter the rotunda of the Christian Development Center you will notice the massive cherubim wing stretched out on the east and west walls the design of the sculptures was meant to remind visitors of the Ark of the Covenant and the cherubim that rested on either side of the mercy seat this art installation represents for example the presence of God among his people and the promise of peace in Christ this beautiful space beneath the wings provides students a place to reflect enjoy community and study the diana ling center for academic achievement houses the United Center for student success as well as shock radio our Department of Fine Arts and two art galleries the Center for academic achievement offers mentoring and free tutoring to all LC students and it is also home to the office of Disability Services chef radio broadcasts within a ten-mile radius and provides students interested in radio TV a platform to gain valuable experience and hone their skills the art galleries are usually filled with work from current students or alumni [Music] here we are in the roads Perrin Recreation Center this 77,000 square foot facility was once an air hangar in Los Alamos New Mexico and has been transformed into a rec center featuring for basketball and volleyball courts a futsal court a 64 foot rock wall and our Ramona parent fitness center the fitness center provides workout options including cardio free weights and circuit training plus individual and small group personal training sessions there are plenty of ways for you to stay fit year-round in the Rhodes Perrin Recreation Center opening in 2017 the James and Jeanette Ling Science Center offers our faculty and students 37,000 square feet of classrooms laboratories and offices it is home to our chemistry biochemistry physics biology animal science pre-vet and natural resource programs it is a hub of ongoing and groundbreaking research from our faculty including a number of innovative projects that actively involve our undergraduates the Margaret talking dance in ER for nursing education is a result of a partnership with Covenant School of Nursing once in the program students take classes in this building complete clinicals at covenant along with using a state-of-the-art simulation lab also located at Covenant this is the only Hospital based program in the state allowing students to complete those clinicals while taking courses the Covenant School of Nursing has a hundred percent pass rate on the NCLEX providing immediate employment while completing a hybrid
