HON 3154.02 1 Hour Seminar
This experience is unlike any other trip LCU offers. Students will instantly experience a slower paced, simpler life in Oxford, England. They will stay 6 nights in an English manor called The Vines. The manor and its grounds will provide space for scholarly conversations about key events and figures in literature and Christian history. There will be opportunities for times of reflection to consider what it means to live a life that contributes to something bigger than self. Students will cultivate connections with one another over shared meals and common experiences.
The days in Oxford will also be spent exploring the city and appreciating the culture of the English college town. In Oxford, history, science, the arts, and religion merge to form one story. The group will enjoy tours of the historical universities, churches, and museums. On Sunday, the group will connect with a local church for a time of worship and encouragement. The days spent in Oxford are intended to be contemplative and wandering, and at the very core, human.
After the leisurely time in Oxford, students will board a train and ride through the English countryside to the center of London. Their arrival will signal the start of 3 ½ full, busy days exploring and taking in what the bustling city has to offer. Days will be spent touring the iconic museums and churches of London. The group will also take a bike tour that highlights sites like Big Ben, the London Tower, and Buckingham Palace. They will watch a popular show in London’s West End as well as spend time in Covent Garden, Piccadilly Circus, and Borough Market.

This trip is scheduled to leave Tuesday, May 18 and return Friday, May 28. Dates are subject to change based on the needs of the program.
This trip will cost a total of $2,250 per person. This cost includes everything (flights, hotels, meals, trains, museums, tours, shows, etc.)
Out of pocket expenses which are not included in the trip charges include passport charges, cost of ETA, visas, cost of passport photos, cost of birth certificate or other documentation needed for passport applications, ISIC cards, health related expenses such as immunizations, spending money for personal expenses, independent meals, and optional excursions. We would encourage you to bring $500 - $1000 of additional spending money on the trip.
The initial $250 non-refundable deposit will be due with your application by November 1, 2026. This is only refundable if you are not accepted on the trip. The remaining $2,000 will be due at the start of the Spring 2027 semester. It will be listed as a course fee, so you can take this part as a student loan if needed.
Yes, with a few exceptions*. The course is HON 3154.02. It is a one hour honors seminar. This time will be used for instruction specific to the experience and trip preparation. Everyone going on the trip needs to take this course, but not everyone going on the trip needs to be an Honors College student. *If this course does not fit into your degree plan, you may audit the course. Even if auditing, you are required to attend all class times in order to travel.
This learning experience is geared toward juniors and seniors in the LCU Honors College. As space allows, Honors freshmen or sophomores will then be considered before non-Honors students. Any student that is accepted must have completed at least one year at LCU, be in good standing with Student Life, good standing with the Business Office, and be in good standing academically.
This trip will be capped at 15 students. A waitlist will be created, so if you aren’t initially accepted, don’t lose hope. Open spaces can and do become available.
If you are a United States citizen, you will need a passport and an ETA (issued by the UK government). A copy of your passport is due when you return your trip acceptance letter. If you do not have a passport, you need to apply immediately. The Global Campus office will work with the travel group to apply for ETAs during the appropriate timeframe.
The requirements will be communicated upon acceptance. Proof of required vaccinations needs to be submitted to the Global Campus office by February 28, 2027.
Yes and no. The university does provide travel insurance for each student. The university does NOT provide separate major medical coverage for students. Typically, your current insurance, either through the university or through your parents, will also cover you while you are traveling. You are encouraged to check with your insurance carrier about coverage while you are traveling in a foreign country.
Yes, we will be traveling in a group, and you will need to stay with the group. Going off on your own and refusing to participate in the trip activities will be cause for you to be sent home early at your own expense.
Yes, absolutely! Failure to do so could result in you being sent home early, at your own expense.
